A process called glycation occurs when you eat too much sugar. Glycation is the method in which the sugar in your bloodstream attaches to proteins and forms harmful new molecules called advanced glycation end products (AGEs). The more sugar you eat the more AGEs you develop.
Besides damaging collagen, a high-sugar diet also affects what type of collagen you have.

How to reduce sugar in your diet
Read labels. There are plenty of hidden sugars in our foods such as yoghurts, tomato sauce, packaged foods, pre-made meals, cereals and more.
Of course reduce your intake of chocolate, cakes, cookies and other sugary delights. We all need something sweet once in a while, I get it, however there are plenty of recipes on the blog that are sugar free and super delicious. Give them a try...your face will thank you for it!
